Keep your gear in order
Keep your bike in tip-top condition with regular cleaning. Warm water and soap (dishwashing liquid will work).
Always ensure the bike chain is well lubricated with chain lube to stop it going rusty and ruining other components on the bike.
Keep the bike indoors such as in the garage, to prevent weathering.
Be sure to take the bike to your local bike shop annually for a bike check-up, just as you would for a Warrant of Fitness for a car.
